Welcome to Rolling Meadows P. S.- Where Learning Never Stops!

Rolling Meadows Public School is a JK - grade 8 school located southwest of the Upper Middle Road and Guelph Line intersection, in Burlington, Ontario. We are a dual track (English JK - grade 8, and French Immersion in grades 7 and 8) school of approximately 600 students and over 40 staff. We believe that a “solid foundation in literacy and numeracy gives students the widest range of choices in school and beyond.” Source: Literacy and Numeracy Secretariat of Ontario

Our Commitment: Raising the Bar on Academics and Student Achievement

Literacy and numeracy continue to be our major teaching and learning foci at Rolling Meadows. Classes have daily 100 minute uninterrupted blocks of literacy instruction and students receive daily mathematics instruction.

Over the past three years we have received significant funding, resources and professional development focusing on literacy instruction, math instruction, as well as assessment and evaluation. Teachers and students work together to create co-constructed success criteria for student work. Once established, this criteria is used by peers and teachers to provide descriptive feedback throughout the learning so that students not only know what to improve, but how to do it. We believe that all students can achieve!

We now have 13 SMART Boards throughout the school. Students in grades 1 - 6 have a SMART Board in their classroom. We are adding this interactive technolgy to our intermediate classes as funds become available. Our staff and students have embraced this technology. As well, we have just purchased netbooks for our junior/intermediate classes to bring access to their classrooms. Our School Council has just approved a purchase for another SMART Board and it will be installed in the near future. Thank you to our families and community for participating in our fundraising initiatives.

Our Learning Environment: TRIBES

Rolling Meadows is a TRIBES school.  TRIBES is a process that creates a culture of inclusiveness, and a sense of community, while maximizing student learning and fostering human development. In our school, students, staff, and the community commit to using these positive TRIBES agreements: Attentive Listening; Appreciations; the Right to Pass; and, Mutual Respect.

The practice of these agreements has become an integral part of our caring climate. Each week our teachers hold community circles with their classes, to reinforce our agreements. Each month we hold school-wide TRIBES events. Our TRIBES are comprised of students from JK- grade 8. Students generally stay in the same TRIBE from year to year.

Our Learning Community: Let’s Work Together

Our staff is a team of dedicated professional educators and learners who consistently put the needs of their students first. Over the past few years, we have had the pleasure of welcoming many new staff, and most recently our new vice principal, Mr. Row. The mix of veteran and new staff, as well as experienced and newer teachers, has energized the building. We learn from and with each other each day!

Our students are an outstanding group of young people, who care about learning, and each other, and they strive to do their best.

Our School Council has been and continue to be financially supportive of our school improvement goals and helping us meet our technology needs to support student learning and achievement. We look forward to continuing to work together to improve student achievement and foster a positive, caring climate and school community.
