Discriminatory and Harmful Language Protocol
The HDSB Discriminatory and Harmful Language Protocol provides clear expectations for how Rolling Meadows staff respond when harm is caused.
Should incidents of discrimination or hate occur at Rolling Meadows, our staff are committed to responding quickly using the protocol.
This protocol responds to discriminatory language based on the protected grounds in the Ontario Human Rights Code including - race, ancestry, place of origin, colour, ethnic origin, citizenship, creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, age, marital status, family status, or disability.
All students and staff at Rolling Meadows will be familiar with the DHLP as it is taught proactively in September each year and is referred to on an ongoing basis throughout the school year.
This protocol will be followed by students and staff to promote a school environment free from discriminatory language and actions. Students will report all incidents of harm to a staff member, and staff members will report all incidents of harm to the administration.
At Rolling Meadows, and throughout the HDSB, we believe that students have a right to learn in a safe and caring space that is free of bias and discrimination, and that students have a right to respectfully express their individuality. Please click on the link to learn more about our Dress Code.
